A modular typeface designed for the Australian band Hiatus Kaiyote. Like the band's music, I wanted the typeface to reflect the eclectic nature of their sound. Diagonals within each letter suggest the sharp changes in tone and rhythm.
Since most of my projects are very loose and unrestrained, It felt nice to break up my usual process by using only four modules to create this font. With these four shapes I set myself rules for the transformation of the modules, kerning, and even tracking.
These electronic billboards utilize the Band's original album artwork, from their debut albums Tawk Tomahawk and Choose Your Weapon.
